Tariffs and Finance

The advantages of adding your electricity tariff data in the ViCare app:

  • Relevant data at a glance: All important information is available at a glance, so you always have an overview of your consumption, savings, earnings and costs.
  • Better financial planning possibilities: By monitoring and tracking costs, you can better shape your financial plans for the future.
  • Clear tariff history: In the “Tariffs” section, you will find a history of all your tariffs that you have added in the ViCare app. This gives you a quick overview of your respective electricity tariffs, their contract terms and conditions.
  • Personal analysis: A detailed overview and a diagram view of your electricity consumption, savings and earnings (if you have a photovoltaic system) help you to track the evolution of your consumption and costs over time.

In the “Tariffs” section, you can store all your relevant tariff data, and easily manage your electricity contracts.

If you also add a feed-in tariff with information about your photovoltaic system, a remuneration in accordance with the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) is displayed. That value is included in the financial analysis so that you can keep an eye on your earnings. For photovoltaic systems that are more than 20 years old, you can track the evolution of the feed-in tariff in the “Tariffs” section. The remuneration data are automatically updated annually in the ViCare app based on the information stored about your system.

In the “Finance” section, the saved tariff data are used to provide you with a clear overview of the costs and earnings of your electrical system.

Note: The “Tariffs” and “Finance” sections are currently only available in Germany. An extension of these functions to other countries is being planned.

The “Tariffs” and “Finance” sections may not be displayed in your ViCare app for the following reasons:

  • Viessmann Energy Management is not configured for your system.
  • These functions are not yet available in your country. Currently, “Tariffs” and “Finance” are only supported in Germany. An extension of these functions to other countries is being planned.

You can find a personal analysis of your electricity consumption data, savings and earnings in the finance section of the “Analysis”. To open the section, simply follow the steps below:

  • Click on “Analysis” in the bottom navigation bar.
  • Select the section “Finance”.

This section provides you with a detailed overview of your electricity consumption data, savings and earnings. You can track and analyze your electricity costs and savings over time to optimize your financial planning for the future.

To open the “Tariffs” section, click on “Settings” in the bottom navigation bar and select “Tariffs”.

When an active tariff has been added, a detailed overview and a diagram view of your electricity consumption, savings and earnings (when using a photovoltaic system) are available in the financial analysis, depending on the contract start date. Adding a tariff does not affect real contracts with a provider.

To add a new tariff, simply follow the steps below:

  1. Click on “Settings” in the bottom navigation bar and open the “Tariffs” section.
  2. Click on the “Add tariff” button here.
  3. Select the type of tariff you want to add and follow the prompts to enter details.

When an active tariff has been added, a detailed overview and a diagram view of your electricity consumption, savings and earnings (when using a photovoltaic system) are available in the financial analysis, depending on the contract start date. Adding a tariff does not affect real contracts with a provider.

Yes, you can add and manage multiple tariffs if each represents a different tariff type or a different provider, or if you want to track your electricity costs chronologically, to keep everything organized. Make sure that the tariffs you add, follow your contract periods. It is not possible to have more than one active tariff of the same type (household or heating tariff) within the same time period.

You can easily edit your tariff data at any time. To do this, simply follow the steps below:

    Edit an active tariff

    1. Click on “Settings” in the bottom navigation bar and open the “Tariffs” section.
    2. Select the section of tariff you want to edit (household, heating, feed-in).
    3. In the detailed view of the tariff, click on the “Options” button and select “Edit” to modify and make the necessary changes.

Edit a tariff in “Drafts” or “Tariff history”

    1. Click on “Settings” in the bottom navigation bar and open the “Tariffs” section.
    2. Select the section of consumption tariff you want to edit (household or heating tariff).
    3. In the detailed view at the bottom of the screen, select the “Drafts” or “Tariff history” folder. You will be shown an overview of the tariffs in the folder.
    4. Click on the menu of the tile (three dots in the top right corner) of the tariff you want to edit and select “Edit” to make the necessary changes.

Please keep in mind that changes to tariff data affect financial analysis for the entire contract period. So if, for example, the electricity price of your contract changes in the future, please create a new tariff by clicking on the “Add tariff” button. Changes do not affect your real contract with the provider.

To delete a tariff in the ViCare app, simply follow the steps below:

    Delete an active tariff

    1. Click on “Settings” in the bottom navigation bar and open the “Tariffs” section.
    2. Select the section of tariff you want to edit (household, heating, feed-in).
    3. In the detailed view of the tariff, click on the “Options” button and select “Delete”.

Delete a tariff in “Drafts” or “Tariff history”

    2. Select the section of consumption tariff you want to edit (household or heating).
    3. In the detailed view at the bottom of the screen, select the “Drafts” or “Tariff history” folder. You will be shown an overview of the tariffs in the folder.
    4. Click on the menu of the tile (three dots in the top right corner) of the tariff you want to delete and select “Delete”.

Please keep in mind that the delete action cannot be undone. Financial analysis data related to the tariff will not be available anymore. Changes do not affect your real contract with the provider.

No, if you change or delete a tariff stored in the ViCare app, this affects only your financial analysis within the ViCare app but will not affect the real contract with the provider.

Yes, you can see historical data on your electricity costs and savings in the “Finance” section of the ViCare app if you have added tariffs in the past.

Cost trends are not displayed, but by analyzing your previous costs, you can better identify potential savings.

If no data are displayed in the “Finance” section, there might be several reasons for this:

      • No tariff added: You may not have added any tariff yet.
      • Insufficient tariff configuration: You have only added a heating tariff, but there is no separate billing meter in your system.
      • Future start date: The added tariff has a start date in the future, which is why no data is available yet.
      • Installation issues: Your energy meter or devices are not properly installed or not connected to the ViCare app.
      • Filter or date selection: Filters or date ranges could be selected that restrict the data displayed.
      • Internet connection: There may be no connection to the internet.
      • Data synchronization: There may be delays in data synchronization. Please give the update some time. Alternatively, try the following:
        • Refresh view: Open "Finance" and refresh the view by swiping down on the screen. You will then recognize the refresh of the view by a small loader at the top of the screen.
        • Restart the app: Close the ViCare app completely and open it again.
      • Technical or server problems: Occasionally, technical or server problems can affect the retrieval and display of data.

A feed-in tariff is dependent on your photovoltaic system. You can only add a new tariff if there is a PV inverter available in your installation. To do this, click on the “Add tariff” button and then select “Grid feed-in”.

The following requirements must be met for the “Grid feed-in” option to be displayed:

      • The PV system is already commissioned and part of the Viessmann ecosystem
      • Viessmann Energy Management is fully configured by the professional partner.

If these requirements are met and you are still unable to add a feed-in tariff, please check the following:

      • There are no maintenance or service issues with your PV system. If there are problems with the hardware or software, the PV system may not be able to connect to the ViCare app.
      • The ViCare app has the necessary authorizations to access your PV system.
      • Your mobile device has a stable and active internet connection. Adding or updating data typically requires an internet connection.
      • Commissioning of the Viessmann Energy Management has been completed without errors.

To ensure a complete and clear financial analysis, we make sure that there are no gaps between consumption tariffs of the same type (household or heating tariffs). When a tariff starts, the previous one must be terminated one day before.

To make it easier for you, when you create a new tariff, we automatically terminate the existing tariff immediately before the new one starts. We will also check all other existing tariffs and will notify you in the ViCare app during the tariff creation or editing process if additional changes are required.
